How can you not be excited for a Judas Priest show? The metal legends made it to Omaha, Nebraska on their “Invincible Shield Tour”. I am embarrassed to say that this was my first Priest show. I grew up listening to the metal gods and own many of their releases. The Screaming for Vengeance, Defenders of the Faith, and Turbo eras of Judas Priest pretty mush defined my high school years. I just never go the opportunity to see them live. My older brother went many times and would tell me how amazing it was but not amazing enough to let younger brother tag along for the ride. I have forgiven him and lucky for me Rob Halford and the guys have stuck around long enough for me to finally get a chance to see them.
While the lineup has changed quite a bit since my early days, the spirit of who Judas Priest is has not changed. The guitar due now is Richie Faulkner and Andy Sneap. They are both more than capable of filling the shoes of Mr. Downing and Mr. Tipton. You will hear no complaints from me about them. They carry the torch on very well and do much justice to the name of Judas Priest. Ian Hill a mainstay in the band is still pounding the bass and Scott Travis is on drums. Rob Halford leads the way as the vocalist. And while he took a few detours along the way, he is the one true voice of the band. And what a voice it is. Even at the age of 73, he can belt out the notes that made him famous. It was very impressive to listen to. He has not lost much if anything over the years.
The show was exactly what I wanted to see and hear. Getting to hear the classics such as You’ve Got Another Thing Coming, Breaking the Law, Turbo Lover, and Hell Bent for Leather (with riding the Harley onto the stage). Sprinkle in some of the newer songs and you have yourself and amazing heavy metal concert. Thank you Rob Halford and the guys for making your way to Omaha so I could finally see you. It was exactly what I thought it would be. Amazing from start to finish.
